Dr. Kevin Smith, F.A.C.S., is owner of the Smith Headache Treatment and Cosmetic Surgery Centers, a state-of-the-art medical practice specializing in facial plastic surgery, sinus surgery and headache relief. Dr. Smith’s offices are centrally located in the world’s largest medical center, the Texas Medical Center, in Houston, Texas.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified in both Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. With these two specialties, Dr. Smith can treat a wide range of conditions, including allergies, sleep apnea, and sinusitis under his otolaryngology practice, and perform facelifts, rhinoplasties, and eyelid surgeries under his plastic surgery practice.

He obtained his education from University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he also completed his residency in Otolaryngology. Advanced training was achieved through an externship in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and a fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery.

Ironically, it was during his facial plastic fellowship training that he first became aware of the connection between the nose and headaches. His preceptor is one of the premiere facial plastic surgeons in the United States, performing over 600 surgical cases per year.

Of the procedures the preceptor performed annually, hundreds were rhinoplasty. Some rhinoplasty patients required a septoplasty to straighten nasal deformities and create more space between narrowed nasal bones to improve breathing.  During Dr. Smith’s fellowship year, his preceptor remarked that some of his patients receiving a septoplasty later reported to him that they no longer got headaches. Dr. Smith tucked away this information not giving it much thought at that time.

Later in Dr. Smith’s own practice, as he performed surgery on patients, he observed for himself the same results as his preceptor. After surgery, many patients claimed to no longer have headaches.

Over the years, Dr. Smith has helped hundreds of patients with severe, migraine-like headaches recover their lives. He remains passionate about his ability to provide patients who have long suffered from severe headache pain, a brighter future. Consequently, Dr. Smith is sought out nationally and even internationally to lecture on “The Migraine Imposter” and a variety of other medical topics. He appears frequently on local Houston radio and television shows, and has appeared on National television shows, including Inside Edition and The Today Show.
